Backup4all needs to be activated after purchasing a license. If you have an active Internet connection the easiest way to activate Backup4all is automatically online. However, if you do not have an active Internet connection, this article describes how to manually activate Backup4all.

Use the manual activation method only if the online activation fails due to firewall issues or internet connection.
The manual activation process involves two computers: computer A, where Backup4all is installed, and computer B, the one that has internet access. Follow the steps below to copy the activation file from computer A to computer B from where you can obtain the activation response.
Backup4all 9 - Manual Activation
Follow these steps to activate Backup4all 9 manually:
1.Open Backup4all (on computer A). The Activate application window will appear. If you previously used the trial, you need to open the activation window from File -> Licensing, by pressing the Enter product key button.
2.In the Activate application window, you need to enter the Product key received by email after purchasing Backup4all 9. Check the I agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy option. Once checked you can press Next,
3.If no internet connection is available, you will be asked to try again online or continue offline activation.
4.On this step you will be asked to load the activation file received with your Backup4all license key. You can also find the license file in your Backup4all account on our website.
5.Check your license details and press Next to continue.
6.You can enter your personal details: First and Last name, Company, Email and Comments.
7.Select how to activate your license in the future and press Next.
8.Select future offline activation mode.
9.Select how to send the activation request: by saving the activation request or by email
- Email activation request. Using this option, the default email client will open to send the activation request. After sending the activation request email, in a short moment you will get an email containing the activation file. Please load that file on the next page of the manual activation process in order to activate the application.
- Save activation request. Using this option, you will be asked to indicate the location where the activation request file will be saved. That file is named
activation-request.xml
.
10.Take the
activation-request.xml
file and go to Computer B where you have internet access. Load the file on https://activate.backup4all.com and press Activate. You will then have the option to download the activation response file after confirming the activation.11.In the last step of the manual activation you have to load the activation response file received and press Activate button. The activation response file is called
activation.xml
.After you press the Activate button, a confirmation message will show the activation results (i.e. activation successful, failed).
Backup4all 8 - Manual Activation
Follow these steps to activate Backup4all 8 manually:
- Open Backup4all (on computer A). The Activate application window will appear. If you previously used the trial, you need to open the activation window from File -> Licensing, by pressing the Enter product key button.
- In the Activate application window, you need to enter the Product key received by email after purchasing Backup4all 8. Optionally you can enter your First and Last name, Company, Email and Comments. The Activate button is greyed out until you check the I agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy option. Once checked you can press the Activate button
- If there is no internet connection on that computer, a Cannot connect to the Internet window will show up. In the email received after you purchased Backup4all, there is also a license file attached in the format
PRODUCT_KEY.lic
. Download that license file and use the Browse button next to the License file field in the Offline activation section to load it in Backup4all 8. Press Activate offline to continue with the manual activation.
- On the second step of the manual activation, you have two options:
- Email activation request. Using this option, the default email client will open to send the activation request. After sending the activation request email, in a short moment you will get an email containing the activation file. Please load that file on the next page of the manual activation process in order to activate the application.
- Save activation request. Using this option, you will be asked to indicate the location where the activation request file will be saved. That file is named
activation-request.xml
.

- In the Activate application window, you need to enter the Product key received by email after purchasing Backup4all 7. Optionally you can enter your First and Last name, Email and Comments. Follow these steps to activate Backup4all 6 manually:
- Open Backup4all (on computer A). The Activate application window will appear. If you previously used the trial, you need to open the activation window from File -> Licensing, by pressing the Enter product key button.
- Press the Enter key button from the right side of the activation window.
- Enter the Backup4all product key, the registration email and press Activate button.
- If there is no internet connection on that computer, the following popup will appear. Press Continue offline button.
- In the email received after you purchased Backup4all, there is also a license .lic file attached. Download that license file and load it in Backup4all, then press Next.
- On the second step of the manual activation, you have two options:
- Email activation request. Using this option, the default email client will open to send the activation request. After sending the activation request email, you will receive an automated reply with the activation file. Please load that file on the next page in order to activate the application.
- Save activation request. Using this option, you will be asked to indicate the location where the activation request file will be saved. Take that file and go to Computer B where you have internet access. Load the file on activate.backup4all.com and press Activate. You will then have the option to download the activation response file. In both cases you will obtain a activation response file, that you need to load on the next step.
- On this page you have to load the activation response file and press Activate button.
Backup4all 5 - Manual Activation
Follow these steps to activate Backup4all 5 manually:
- Open Backup4all (on computer A). The Activate application window will appear. If you previously used the trial, you need to open the activation window from File -> Help, by pressing the Enter activation key button.
- Press the Manual activation button from the bottom left side of the activation window.
- In the email received after you purchased Backup4all, there is also a license .lic file attached. Download that license file and load it in Backup4all, then press Next.
- On the second step of the manual activation, you have two options:
- Email activation request. Using this option, the default email client will open to send the activation request. After sending the activation request email, in a short moment you will get an email containing the activation file. Please load that file on the next page in order to activate the application.
- Save activation request. Using this option, you will be asked to indicate the location where the activation request file will be saved. Take that file and go to Computer B where you have internet access. Load the file on activate.backup4all.com and press Activate. You will then have the option to download the activation response file. In both cases you will get a activation response file, that you need to load on the next step.
