This article explains how to backup music with Backup4all. You can choose to back up your music files located in My Documents folder by using the specific plugin or you can set a filter to include in backup only the audio files extensions.

If you keep your music files in My Documents folder you can use the plugin to back up your files. If you have a custom location for your music files or you keep them in multiple locations on your computer, you need to add all folders containing music files to backup sources and filter the backup to include only the music files.

How to backup music using Music files plugin

To create a new backup job for Music files based on the application's plugin, follow these steps:
  1. Open Backup4all and select File -> New (Ctrl+N).
  2. Select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
  3. From the Applications list, press "More applications".
  4. Select Music files plugin and press Install. Then close the plugins window.
  5. Under Applications list, select Music files plugin and press Next twice.
  6. On the How do you want to backup page, you can choose the backup type and the encryption.
  7. On the When do you want to backup page, you can set the backup job to automatically run on the specified time and days. Press Next.
  8. On the Personalize your backup job page, enter a name for the backup in the Backup name field.
  9. Click Save, then Save and run.

How to add filters to include in backup only audio files

If you have a custom location for your music files or you want to back up only some file types, you should follow the indications below. In this example, we mention the most frequently used file types for music: mp3, wma, wav, atrac, flac, AAC, ogg, mid, mp4, mka, mpa, nra, m4a.
  1. Open Backup4all and select File -> New (Ctrl+N).
  2. Select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
  3. On the What do you want to backup page, add the backup sources. Press Next.
  4. On the Filter the backup sources page, you can set include/exclude filters for backup sources. Then press Next.
  5. Press Add -> Add include
  6. Under File name section, check Enable
  7. Press Add and enter the file extension (e.g. *.mp3). Repeat this step for each file entension as they needs to be added separately. Press Next.
  8. On the How do you want to backup page, you can choose the backup type and the encryption.
  9. On the When do you want to backup page, you can set the backup job to automatically run on the specified time and days. Press Next.
  10. On the Personalize your backup job page, enter a name for the backup in the Backup name field.
  11. Press Save then Save and run.
